My grandpa's work stories make me think people skills are less key now
He always says his boss promoted him because he was good with customers. Now, I see job posts that list a bunch of tech must-haves before even talking about teamwork.

Doubt people skills stopped mattering just because job posts list tech stuff first.

My old apartment building had a super who could fix anything. He knew every pipe and wire in the place. But he was so rude to everyone that people stopped reporting leaks. The whole lobby flooded one Tuesday because a small problem got ignored. The tech skills are on the job listing, but the actual work needs a person you can talk to without getting yelled at.

You ever see someone crash a project by being technically gifted but impossible to work with? My friend Sam got hired as a coding whiz for this app startup. He knew every system inside out, but he'd snap at anyone who asked a simple question. The whole team started avoiding him, progress slowed to a crawl, and they actually let him go before the launch. They hired someone with less specific tech skills who could actually explain things and listen. The job posts all listed the fancy coding languages first, but the team fell apart without someone who could talk to people.
