My counterpoint: Small team moments beat big networking any day

Everyone says you have to go to every big networking event to get ahead. I don't think that's always true. A few weeks ago, I decided not to go to a huge industry gathering. I spent that time having casual talks with newer people on my team. We found a way to make a daily task much faster (my manager noticed right away). That little success helped my standing more than any event could have. So, sometimes skipping the loud advice for quiet team time pays off.
