My boss told me my emails were too wordy and I doubled my response rate

At my marketing job last month, my manager pulled me aside and said my emails looked like novels. She showed me one and said people skim on their phones, so I needed to cut everything down to 3 sentences max. I started using bullet points and short paragraphs instead of long blocks of text. Now I get replies way faster and my open rates went up by 20 percent. Has anyone else gotten feedback that felt harsh at first but actually helped a ton?

Tbh that's actually solid advice, trimming emails down to 3 sentences forces you to actually say what matters. I started doing the same thing and my replies came back way faster too.

Right but the 3 sentence thing only works if the other person actually reads them. I had a boss who just skimmed and replied with a one word answer to my carefully trimmed email. Made me wonder why I even wasted the time cutting it down. Then again some people write novels and get ignored too. Hard to win either way.
