Got stuck on a career plateau until a conversation at a moving site changed my approach

I was at a job in Denver last month unloading a truck for a client who works in HR. We got to talking about how I was feeling stuck in my moving company, just going through the motions. She asked me what my biggest goal was for the next year and I couldn't even answer her. That really hit me hard because I realized I hadn't thought about my own growth at all. She told me to write down one specific skill I wanted to learn each quarter and actually schedule time for it. I've started blocking off Friday afternoons to work on my marketing and it's already making a difference. Has anyone else had a random conversation that pushed them to rethink their career path?

What skill did you put down for this quarter that felt the most uncomfortable to learn?

you couldn't even answer her" - dang, that line hit me hard just reading it lol. I had a similar thing at a coffee shop where the barista asked what I was passionate about and I froze for like 10 seconds. It's wild how we just go on autopilot and forget to actually think about where we're headed. Blocking off Friday afternoons is smart though, I might have to steal that idea because my "planning" right now is basically just hoping things work out lmao.
