Got passed over for a lead spot after 2 years because I never asked for one thing
So I work at a logistics company in Columbus and last Tuesday they posted a team lead opening on our internal board. I have been here 2 years and 4 months, I know the whole dock process, and I train every new hire that comes through. I applied the same day and figured it was mine. Friday my manager pulls me into the little glass room and says they gave it to a guy who started 6 months after me. His reason? The other guy had been telling him for a year that he wanted to move up, and I never once said it out loud. I just assumed doing good work would be enough and that someone would notice. Now I am sitting here wondering if I should go back and flat out tell him I want the next one, or if that ship already sailed. Has this happened to anyone else? Did speaking up actually change anything for you, or did it just make things weird?
