Appreciation post: My sister's career jump made me see risk in a new light

I was just thinking about how my older sister switched jobs last year after a long time at one company. Back when we were kids, she was always the cautious one, planning everything out. Now, seeing her take a big step into a new field really shook up my own view on career moves. It reminded me of when I stayed too long in a role that was safe but not fulfilling. Her change showed me that sometimes you have to leap even when it feels scary, just like she did. I used to worry so much about stability, but now I get that growth often comes from those uncertain moments. Her move pushed me to finally ask for more challenging projects at my own job. It's wild how family can mirror the lessons we need for our work lives!

My friend Mark worked at the same tech firm for twelve years. Seeing him leave to start his own woodworking business last fall made me question my own fear of leaving a steady paycheck. It was a quiet push I didn't know I needed.

My sister was the exact same way. It really does make you look at your own safe choices differently, you know? Good for her.
