Why does nobody warn you about open carriers in the rain
I shipped my old Civic from Portland to Seattle last month and went with the cheaper open carrier option. Paid $310 vs the $480 enclosed quote, figured it was a no brainer. When it showed up two days late, the car was covered in grime and had a big scratch on the hood I swear wasn't there before. The driver said it was probably from a loose rock kicked up on I-5 during the downpour. I filed a claim with the broker but they said weather damage isn't covered unless it's structural. So I learned my lesson, for anything over $5k in value or if the paint matters to you, just pony up for enclosed. Has anyone else gotten stuck with this kind of damage and actually won a claim, or is it always a fight?
