TIL booking a carrier 6 weeks out beats the panic rush every time

Had to move a 2013 Civic from Des Moines to Phoenix last month. Every quote I got under 2 weeks out was $1,100 or more. Pushed it to 6 weeks and got the same route for $780 through a smaller broker in Nebraska. Now I plan all my moves ahead and it saves me about 30% every time. Has anyone else noticed the price drop that far out, or was I just lucky with the timing?
