Open deck vs enclosed quotes in a tiny Texas town
Stopped in Waco last month to get a quote for moving my 2005 Mustang from Austin to Nashville. Three different yards gave me three totally different prices for the same route. One guy quoted $680 open deck, another said $900 for enclosed, and the third flat out told me he wouldn't touch it without a running engine. I get that my car doesn't start right now, but I asked about winching and they all had different rules. The smaller yard with the rusty fence had the best price and seemed the most honest about loading it with a tow bar. I ended up going with the middle quote because the driver actually called me back within an hour. Has anyone else run into wild price swings like that just by asking around at random lots?

My buddy had almost the same thing happen with his old 4Runner, except it was Dallas to Phoenix. He got quotes from four places, and the cheapest was $550 but they wanted him to push the car onto the trailer himself. The most expensive was $1,100 and they acted like they were doing him a favor just by answering the phone. He went with the second cheapest and the guy showed up two hours late with a flat tire on the trailer, but still got the job done no problem.
