Warning: that one hot week in July almost cooked my battery and I didn't see it coming
Two weeks ago we had 5 straight days over 100 here in Fresno, and my car started cranking slow on the 4th day. I popped the hood and the battery case was swollen and there was white crust all over the positive post. Turns out I'd parked facing the sun all week in the same spot at work, and the heat plus a 4 year old battery was too much. I cleaned the terminals with baking soda and water and got it tested, and it was at 60 percent, so I swapped it before it left me stuck. Anyone else had a battery go bad from heat alone and not cold?
