My old boss told me to stop using guides in Figma and just eyeball it, and he was completely wrong
I worked at a small shop in Austin two years back and my design lead swore that snapping to guides made layouts look stiff, so he told me to drag stuff around freehand. I tried it for a week on a client's landing page and everything was off by like 6 or 8 pixels in weird places. When we handed it off, the dev sent back a screenshot with a big red circle and asked if the spacing was on purpose. I went back to guides and auto layout after that and my handoff emails dropped from 12 back and forths to maybe 2. Funny thing is he still does it his way on his own projects. Does anyone here actually skip guides on purpose, or was he just messing with me?
