My Figma file corrupted 2 days before a presentation in Portland
Was about 40 minutes into the final round of edits when the whole file just went blank. Autosave had been running. Did the usual force quit and reopen. Nothing. Ended up having to pull the last good version from version history. Lost about 3 hours of work. Ever since then I make a manual backup before every big session. Has anyone else had Figma files just die on them like that?

Three hours of work gone just like that? That's brutal. Version history saved you but still lost hours of tweaking and adjustments. Honestly makes me nervous about trusting cloud autosave ever again.

Kevin from Toms Guide had a piece last month about how autosave failures are way more common than people think, especially with multi-user docs. Makes sense when you think about all the tiny hiccups in syncing. That version history is basically a safety net for the short term but not a full backup solution if the whole project gets scrambled.
