Heard a podcast guy say Canva layers are just stacked pancakes

I was half listening while making lunch and he compared Canva layers to pancakes where you can only move the top one, while Figma lets you grab any layer mid stack. Has anyone else found a work around for Canva's layer system that doesn't drive you nuts?

Heres the thing, most people using Canva arent doing complex design work where layer order even matters. Ive made hundreds of flyers and social posts in Canva and I can count on one hand the times I needed to grab a layer thats buried three pancakes deep. The pancake analogy is clever but its mostly a problem for people who are trying to build websites or apps in a tool that was never meant for that. If you group things from the start and label your layers as you go, the stack system is totally fine. Figma is built for a different job, like building a house frame, while Canva is for hanging a picture on the wall. Not everyone needs to grab any layer mid stack because most of us are just moving the top pancake around anyway.

Ask @rayc83 don't you ever want to grab layers underneath though?
