Vent: my $200 tent leaked for 2 years until I finally re-waterproofed the rainfly
So I bought a Kelty tent back in 2021 and for two whole summers I just accepted that the rainfly soaked through in any real storm. I would wake up with my sleeping bag damp at the foot end every single time it rained hard in the Ozarks. Last month I finally read the tag and it said the factory coating wears off and you have to reapply every year or two. I picked up a $12 bottle of Nikwax TX.Direct and sprayed the fly in my backyard over a tarp on a Saturday afternoon. Two days later we got 3 inches of rain overnight and the inside stayed bone dry. I felt so stupid for just dealing with wet gear for 24 months when the fix was a spray bottle and one afternoon. Has anyone else gone way too long before treating their fly, or am I the only one who ignored the tag for years?
