Tried a $12 inflatable pillow on my last trip and woke up with zero neck pain

Been using a rolled up jacket for years and always woke up stiff, but that cheap pillow actually held air all night and felt like a real pillow. Anyone else find that sometimes the cheapest gear works way better than the expensive stuff?

Have you ever tried using a neck gaiter or a buff as a pillow case? I mean, I've seen people stuff their jackets inside those and it kinda works, but the real trick is that cheap inflatable pillows are actually stiff enough to mimic a real pillow's support. A rolled up jacket just compresses too much under your head, so it doesn't do much for your neck alignment. Maybe it's just me, but I think the bargain bin stuff often gets the basics right without overcomplicating things.

Blew my buddy's mind when I told him to try using his cotton t-shirt as a pillowcase with one of those cheap inflatable pillows from a gas station. He was skeptical until we were stuck in an airport overnight and he woke up actually rested. Said his neck didn't hurt at all compared to when he'd use his sweatshirt balled up. Now he keeps one of those little inflatable pillows in his car trunk ALWAYS.
