The guy at the campsite next to me in Bend last weekend swore by his $12 Walmart sleeping pad
I was packing up my site at Tumalo State Park and this older guy two spots over saw me rolling up my fancy inflatable pad and just shook his head. He said he has used the same $12 blue foam pad from Walmart for 9 years and has never once woken up on the ground or had to patch a leak at 2am. I always figured cheap pads were for car campers who did not know any better, but then he pulled it out and it honestly looked fine, just some compression marks. I did not buy one on the way home but I keep thinking about it every time I see my patch kit sitting in the bin. Anyone here actually put real miles on a foam pad and can tell me if it holds up below freezing?
