Swore by my $300 Jetboil for 4 seasons, now I just boil water in a $12 tin pot over the fire
Honestly the Jetboil is fast but it died on me twice in 20 degree weather in Flagstaff and the pot never quits. Anyone else ditch the fancy stove and go back to basics, or am I just getting old and cheap?
What exactly happened when the Jetboil died on you? Was it the igniter crapping out, the regulator freezing up, or did the whole thing just quit lighting? That matters a lot because if it's a cold gas issue, no canister stove is gonna save you at 20 degrees, fancy or not. And how long does the tin pot actually take to boil compared to the Jetboil, like are we talking a few extra minutes or double the time? Just trying to figure out if you found something real here or if the cold was the actual problem all along.
