Rant: Switched from a cheap tarp to a mid-range tent footprint after one rainy night in Alabama
My Walmart tarp let water pool underneath my tent and soak through the floor, but a $25 footprint with grommets kept everything bone dry on the same soggy ground last weekend - any recommendations for a durable footprint brand that won't break the bank?

Oh man, that REI one sounds like the real deal for the price. Hey @mitchell.shane, how's the wear on those reinforced corners after three years of rocky ground? I'm wondering if the grommets start to pull through or if the material stays solid around them over time.

That "pooled water" bit is exactly what happened to me with a cheap blue tarp in the Smokies. I grabbed an REI brand footprint for like $20 and it's held up through three years of rocky campsites with no tears. Saved my gear and my back, so stick with something that has reinforced corners and it'll do the job.
