My nephew corrected my tent setup and I felt like a total fool

He was 9 years old and pointed out I'd been staking the rainfly backwards for 15 years, which explained why water always pooled inside during storms, so has anyone else gotten humbled by a kid who actually read the instructions?

My ex wife once watched me try to force a square tent peg into a round hole for ten minutes before our five year old daughter walked over, flipped the peg over, and it slid right in. I felt about two inches tall but at least the tent stayed up that night. Kids just read the damn directions while we're out here guessing based on vibes alone.

Yeah, the ikea flatpack furniture situation in my house is basically the same thing. My wife and I spent three hours arguing over a bookshelf, and then my 7 year old niece @kellyj23, who was just drawing nearby, looked over and said "that piece goes on the left side, not the right" without even looking at the manual. I swear kids have this weird superpower where they just absorb information while we skip straight to the trial and error phase. It's like we hit adulthood and our brains decide reading instructions is beneath us or something. But honestly, getting humbled by a kid who actually pays attention is probably good for the ego, even if it stings at the moment.
