My 10-year-old tent finally failed, the new one is a different animal
I used the same $60 dome tent from Target for a decade, it survived everything from beach storms to mountain nights. Last month the poles snapped in a normal breeze at Yosemite, so I picked up a $180 trekking pole tent on a sale. The weight difference alone is 4 pounds less, but the real shift is how the poles set tension. Has anyone else hit that wall where old gear just gives out and forces an upgrade?
