I finally quit messing with my tent's rainfly after a storm in Colorado

I used to adjust the rainfly tension every night to get it perfect, but last trip near Estes Park a big windstorm hit around 2 AM. I left it loose and let it flap a bit, and somehow I stayed bone dry while my buddy's tight fly let condensation drip all over his bag. Anyone else stop over-tightening their rainfly and get better results?

Oh man, same thing happened to me in the White Mountains. I used to crank mine down so tight it looked like a drum, then woke up soaked from my own breath. Now I just give it a lazy tug and let it breathe a little, way less condensation.

Wait, so you're telling me I've been cranking my rainfly tight like a snare drum for years while the secret was just letting it flap around like a broken flag? Lol, I guess my tent just wanted to be a rebel flapping in the wind instead of a perfect little condensation box. Good to know I can finally stop playing rainfly origami at 2 AM during a storm.
