Found out my sleeping bag's temp rating is a LIE after a cold night in the Smokies

I was looking at reviews for my 20-degree bag and stumbled on a forum where someone tested it with a thermal camera. Turns out the EN rating only tested the top part, the bottom is basically uninsulated. Has anyone else checked their bag's actual performance with a thermometer?

Heard the same thing from a gear nerd on YouTube a few weeks back.

Is it really that deep though? I feel like people get way too worked up over gear specs and tiny differences. Saw a video comparing two mics and the dude spent 20 minutes talking about a 0.5db bump in the high end that nobody would ever notice in a real mix. Half the comments were acting like it ruined the mic forever. Like cmon, just record something and move on.
