Finally got my old camp stove working after it sat for 3 years

Found my old Coleman stove in the garage last week, all rusty from a wet trip in 2021. I spent an hour cleaning the burners with a wire brush and a pin. Put in a new fuel tank seal, a $5 part from the hardware store, and tried a test light. All three burners fired right up, blue flame and everything. Has anyone else brought a piece of gear back from the dead like that?

Man, that is SO satisfying! I used to just toss stuff when it got old or rusty. Figured it was junk. But last year I fixed my dad's old fishing lantern with the same kind of simple clean-up and a new mantle. Seeing that thing glow again, after being sure it was trash, totally changed my mind. There's a real pride in bringing something back to life with your own two hands.

Respect what you're saying @rayc83, but I gotta be honest. Sometimes that old stuff is just junk. Fixed up a rusty bike last summer, spent a ton on parts. Thing rode like junk anyway. Not every piece of old gear has a second life in it. Some things are just done, and that's okay. Saves you the headache.
