Someone brought in a camera held together with a guitar string

Last Tuesday a guy walks in with a Pentax that had the bottom plate wrapped in what looked like a wire from an old acoustic guitar. He said the original screw threads stripped out back in 2019 and this was his permanent fix. I had to loosen the string just to open the film chamber, but honestly it held the whole baseplate on better than some of the factory clips I've seen. Have any of you run into a bodge like that where you just had to stop and admire the creativity before tearing it apart?
