Soldering iron tip number 300 finally made me stop and count
I was cleaning my bench in Denver yesterday and counted 300 spent soldering tips in a coffee can, which is way more than I thought I went through. Turns out I was running my iron about 80 degrees hotter than needed on ribbon cables, so the tips were dying in a month instead of lasting most of a year. Any of you keep a rough count of consumables like that, or am I the only one who hoards dead tips?
