PSA: A drop of lighter fluid got a stuck shutter blade moving again
Had a Nikon FE with a blade that wouldn't budge after sitting for years. Tried the usual stuff, then put a tiny bit of Ronsonol on a toothpick and touched the pivot. Freed it up in seconds. Anyone have a better solvent for this kind of old grease?

Risk putting a flammable solvent inside a camera body? That seems like a quick way to turn a sticky shutter into a paperweight. What if it drips onto the curtain or leaves a residue that attracts more dust? Maybe a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol on a swab would be safer, even if it takes a few more tries to work.

Right? I feel like I'd somehow manage to dribble lighter fluid everywhere and turn my Nikon into a tiny zippo lighter. Probably breathe in too many fumes and start explaining why my camera is "talking" to me.
