My repair space is just a table and a lamp, and it works great
I keep hearing that you need a full blown workshop to do proper camera repair. I really disagree with that idea. My whole setup is on an old wooden table in my spare room. I use a basic foam pad to protect surfaces and some empty mint tins for holding tiny parts. A single adjustable lamp gives me all the light I need, even for delicate spring work. I've fixed shutter issues on several classic SLRs with nothing fancier than a set of screwdrivers and a loupe. It might not look impressive, but it gets the job done every time. I think focusing too much on gear can scare new people away from trying repairs. Starting simple lets you learn the real skills without a big cost.

Wish I had a dollar for every time someone said you need a pro shop. Honestly, that idea is pure nonsense. Tbh, my first fix was on a kitchen table with a flashlight. Ngl, the mint tin trick is smarter than most tool kits I've seen. People get so hung up on gear they forget to actually learn the craft. Your post is a welcome reality check.

Exactly! Skills beat gear every time. That mindset makes way more sense.

See it all the time with cooking too... fancy gadgets can't fix bad technique.
