Honestly my old boss told me to never use WD-40 on a sticky aperture ring

He said it would just attract more dust and gum things up worse over time. I didn't listen and tried it on a Minolta lens last week, and now the ring is completely seized. Tbh I think he was right, it's a mess. Has anyone else had a specific fix for a Minolta MC 50mm f/1.4 that worked?

What kind of watch oil did you end up using?

Yeah that WD-40 mistake taught me too. Watch oil, like @margaret_lane asked about, is the real fix.

My buddy's Minolta 58mm f/1.4 had the same issue. We used lighter fluid to flush out the old WD-40, then a tiny drop of watch oil. It's smooth now, but it was a last resort.
