DAE try cleaning a lens with pancake syrup and regret it?
So last week I had a sticky shutter button on a customer's old point and shoot. I read somewhere that a tiny bit of pancake syrup on a Q-tip could loosen gunk, so I tried it. It worked for about five minutes, then the button seized up completely and the syrup dripped into the focus ring. I learned never to use anything sticky on a camera, and now I want to know if anyone else has tried a dumb home remedy that backfired.
