Was 10 years in before I caught my tone issue on rough-ins

Honestly I always ran my drill on max speed for everything, anchors, screws, whatever. Last month I got called back to a house in Denver where the wall plates kept popping off. Turns out I was stripping out the drywall anchors because I never backed off the clutch. A older guy on the crew watched me one day and just said, "you hear that click? That's your problem." Switched to setting the drill to 2 for anchors and it's been night and day. Anyone else run their tools wrong for years before someone said something?

Ha! Yeah, I ran a saw backwards for a week. The sparks were a clue.
