Warning: Don't trust a cheap toner probe when pulling wire through old conduit
Picked up a $15 toner probe off Amazon to trace a dead line in a 50 year old building downtown, and it kept beeping on every wire within 3 feet. Turns out the thing was picking up ghost signals from the metal conduit itself, not the actual cable I needed. Anyone else had a cheap probe give you a false positive and send you down the wrong path for hours?

Is your tone probe actually the problem or just the old corroded conduit messing with it?
