Tone tester saved me after a 3 house fail streak last month
I kept chasing dead lines on this one street in Columbus, probably 3 houses in a row where I swore the drop was bad but it was actually the tap. Finally borrowed my buddy's amplified tone tester instead of my cheap standard one. Found a corroded connector behind a bush in 4 minutes. Now I keep the good one in my van always. Anyone else have a tool they were stubborn about upgrading?

Mine was a cheap multimeter that I hung onto way too long. Kept getting weird readings on a job in Reynoldsburg and blamed the wiring, turns out the meter itself was drifting. Bought a Fluke and the same line read clean the first time. Felt dumb for waiting so long just to save a few bucks. Stubbornness costs more than the tool sometimes.
