Three years on the same pole and no one told me about the wasp nest
Last week I was doing a service call over on Maple Street near the old water tower. Same utility pole I've climbed at least a dozen times since 2021. I clipped in, went up about 15 feet, and my hand hits something papery. Wasp nest, the size of a football, built right inside the cable slack loop that's been there since before I started. Nobody mentioned it in the notes, no flag from the last guy. I dropped my crimper on a lawn and spent 20 minutes trying to find it while three angry wasps chased me around Mrs. Henderson's yard. She came out and told me she'd been calling about it for two summers. So I guess the lesson is trust the homeowner's complaints, but also maybe we should label our old poles better. Has anyone else run into surprise wildlife on repeat visits?
