That time I fixed a flickering modem by checking the ground bond
Last week I spent 2 hours chasing a signal issue in a house built in the 70s, turned out the ground bond was loose at the meter base... has anyone else run into weird stuff with older homes throwing off your readings?

...actually I was reading something from an old electrician's forum the other day where a guy was talking about how older homes from the 70s and 80s sometimes had ground bonds that were just barely tightened by hand, not torqued down properly. He said over time the vibration from the meter base and temperature changes can work them loose. It makes total sense when you think about it - those connections are outside in the elements and they expand and contract way more than people realize. I bet half the intermittent flickering issues I see in older houses come back to something stupid like that.
