That retired lineman's tip about flush cuts saved my ladder today

An old hand I met on a job in Akron told me never to leave zip tie tails on outdoor drops because squirrels chew them and pull the line. I shrugged it off for two years thinking it was a myth. Today I was up on a pole and saw a drop with a tail chewed clean through, jacket split and copper exposed. I trimmed every tail on that run and now I carry a flush cutter in my pouch instead of the cheap scissors. Anyone else seen critter damage trace back to a stray tail?
