Ngl, I used to think attic pulls were just part of the job until I spent 3 hours in a 1940s house in Tacoma with blown-in insulation up to my knees. The homeowner's kid kept asking why I was 'swimming' up there, and honestly it made me realize how much time I waste routing through junk. Now I run a fish rod and plan a clean path before I even step off the ladder. Anyone else had a job that made you rethink the basics?

Bailey.sandra, you're not wrong about the mess being unavoidable. My last attic pull ended up looking like I'd wrestled a bag of fiberglass insulation and lost. I just prefer to know exactly where I'm going to step so I don't put my foot through the ceiling drywall. That 15 minute map saves me a 3 hour patch job later, even if my kid laughs at me for being slow.
