PSA: My first fiber splice job took 6 tries yesterday, but today I nailed it on the 1st attempt

I swapped from using the cheap cleaver to a proper Fujikura and suddenly clean cuts just happened, has anyone else seen that big a difference from just upgrading one tool?

Yeah... the cheap cleaver makes everything harder.

Huh, I actually had the opposite experience. A good cleaver helps, sure, but my first clean splices came from getting the fiber holders and stripper sorted out first. For me, crap in equals crap out with fiber, and the cleaver is just one part of that chain.
