Just a thought: In-wall cables aren't the gold standard for every job

I know the standard is to hide cables in walls for a clean look. But I think that's wrong in some cases. For example, in older homes with plaster walls, fishing cables can cause damage and take extra time. I've seen jobs where surface raceways saved hours and allowed for easy upgrades later. Tenants in rental units like not having holes patched when they move. Sure, it might not look as sleek, but function over form makes sense here. Let's be real, not every install needs to be invisible.

Found paint-able raceways a lifesaver in my last rental upgrade.

Function over form is smart, but paint-able raceways let you have both without the wall damage.

Got a buddy who redid his whole home office with surface mount channels painted to match the trim. Looks clean enough and he can rewire his gear anytime without cutting drywall. In a rental, just running a flat cable along the top of the baseboard with some clear clips is totally fine. Landlords hate patchwork, and you can take it all down in five minutes when you move. Sometimes the "right" way is just what works without making a mess.
