Hit 1000 jobs without a single callback - surprised me more than I expected

I passed 1000 installs last week and realized I haven't had a single callback for a bad job in all of them. Not sure if I'm just lucky or my method of testing every cable twice before I leave is paying off. I do a quick continuity check and then actually plug in a device to verify signal before I pack up. Anyone else keep a running count of your clean installs or am I just weird about tracking this stuff?

lol yeah I've been doing this for years now and honestly that double check method is the only way to go. I had a buddy who skipped the device test part once and ended up having to go back to a house three times because the cable was fine on the continuity test but the signal was garbage. That's such a time suck it's not even funny. For me it's become muscle memory now - I just automatically grab a device and plug it in before I pack anything up. Tracking is smart too, keeps you honest when you're rushing through jobs. Keep doing what you're doing man, it's clearly working.

Hold on though... is the double check really worth it on every single job? Seems like overkill if you're already confident in your work. I've seen guys waste half a day on routine installs because they're paranoid about something that's probably fine. That buddy of yours might've just had bad luck or lousy gear in the first place. Maybe it's better to trust your initial test and move on unless there's a red flag... keeps you efficient out there.
