Had a fiber optic splice tray break on me during a job in Phoenix yesterday

I was tightening the lid on a customer's outdoor enclosure and the plastic hinge just snapped clean off, so I had to drive 45 minutes back to the shop for a replacement tray while the customer stood in their driveway watching me - has anyone else run into these cheap enclosures failing at the worst time?

Man that's the absolute worst timing, right when you're trying to wrap up and get out of the heat. My last outdoor tray failed in a similar way, the latch cracked the second I touched it and I just stood there staring at it like it personally offended me. Hate those plastic ones they sell now, feels like they're designed to break after one use (probably to sell you more trays, honestly). Learned my lesson though, now I carry two spare trays in my truck at all times just in case. Phoenix sun probably didn't help that plastic any either, that dry heat bakes everything brittle.

Ugh right?? I actually watched some durability test on youtube and those cheap plastic trays literally crumble after like 2 hours in direct sun. It's wild.
