Got a genuine thank you note from a customer today

I was running coax to a new bedroom in this older house out in Brighton. The homeowner was this older guy who kept apologizing for the tight crawl space under his house. After I got the line run and terminated, he handed me a handwritten card with a $20 gift card to a local diner tucked inside. Said his grandkids can finally have their own room with TV and he appreciated me not making a mess. Has anyone else gotten a surprise thank you like that on a job?

Got a $50 tip once for drilling through a coat closet wall to run cat5e for a guy's home office. He said his wife had been nagging him about the cable mess for months. It's nice when people actually notice the effort you put into keeping things clean.

Tiny correction @the_jenny, but cat5e maxes out at 1 gigabit and cat6 is what you'd want for anything newer. Still, a clean cable run is worth every penny of that tip, makes the whole setup look professional and keeps the peace at home.
