Blew $200 on a cheap cable toner from Amazon last Thursday
That thing couldn't find a tone through drywall, let alone a live line. Anyone had luck with a budget toner that actually works, or am I stuck saving up for a Fluke?

Bought a cheap one from Harbor Freight once... thing beeped at me when I pointed it at a microwave across the room. Ended up returning it and borrowing my buddy's Fluke.

@thomas_johnson35 nailed it, cheap tools just end up wasting time and money in the long run. It's the same with anything from budget kitchen knives to cheap car parts, you always end up buying the good version twice.
