Went from hating plywood drawer boxes to using them on a $1,400 kitchen in Spokane
I used to turn my nose up at plywood drawers and built everything out of solid poplar for about 4 years. Last spring I switched to 1/2 inch birch ply with a dovetail jig because a client in Spokane wanted the job done in 3 weeks, and honestly the fit and finish came out cleaner than my solid boxes did. The ply stays flat after a year of daily use, while my old poplar boxes on the same style of job in Coeur d'Alene had already swelled and stuck by month 8. Part of it was the cheap poplar I was getting, part of it was me not letting the stock acclimate long enough. Curious if anyone here has run into the same thing or if I just got a bad batch of lumber.
