That retired guy who pointed out my drawer joints changed my approach

Last fall I was fitting cabinets in a kitchen remodel outside Madison. An older fellow watched me install a full-extension drawer. He asked why I used dovetails when the box sides were just glued and pinned. Said his shop stopped doing that after a job failed in humid weather. I checked my notes and sure enough, that weak point caused a callback two years ago. Now I dado the bottoms and reinforce every joint on kitchen drawers. Any of you run into a random comment that ended up saving more trouble than any class?
