Remember when everyone knew how to properly set a table saw fence?
I was helping a friend in his garage shop the other day and saw him just push the fence against a ruler. He was off by a full sixteenth over 24 inches. That's how you get cabinets that don't fit right. We used to check it with a dial indicator against the blade at the front AND back. Now I see so many folks online just trusting the scale. It matters because that tiny error gets multiplied across every cut. Does anyone still use a good old Starrett indicator for this, or is there a better trick now?

What's a dial indicator, my fence is just a warped 2x4?

Yeah that "just trust the scale" thing gets me too. I used to think checking the fence at both ends was overkill and just eyeballing it was fine. Then I built a bookshelf that looked like a staircase and had to redo three panels. Changed my mind real quick.
