Find that many clients actually choose trendy looks over tough materials. They pick painted finishes that chip easy just to get a modern style right now. For them, it's about updating often, not keeping things forever. So I see more focus on current fashion than lasting build.

@linda368, are you saying clients pick finishes that chip on purpose? That blows my mind. It seems like such a waste of money and materials. People must really care more about looking cool now than having stuff that lasts. I get wanting new styles, but throwing things away so fast is bad for the planet too. How can anyone be okay with that? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, it's the same thing with furniture. I had a client last month who wanted a whole custom shelving unit painted in this super light color they saw online. I told them straight up it would show every mark and scuff within a year. They said they'd just repaint it or replace it when it looked bad. The whole idea of a permanent piece is gone. It's all temporary now.
