Just hit 100 custom spice drawer inserts and I'm kinda shocked
I've been doing cabinet work for about 4 years now, mostly kitchens and bathrooms. Last week I was going through my job log and realized I've built exactly 100 custom spice drawer inserts. That's a hundred times I've measured out 3 inch deep boxes with slotted dividers. Never really thought about it until I added it up. It started with a request from a lady in a 1920s bungalow who wanted her oregano off the counter. Now it's basically half my kitchen jobs. Has anyone else had one random thing that just took over their workload?

That bit about the lady wanting her oregano off the counter really stuck with me. It's funny how one small request can turn into the thing you're known for, like how my buddy started fixing one squeaky door in a rental and now all he does is hinge adjustments. I think it's part of a bigger pattern where people get tired of clutter and just want things hidden away but still easy to grab. A spice drawer is basically a tiny answer to that whole "I'm drowning in stuff" feeling a lot of folks have now. You just happened to be the guy who built the boat for it.

Funny how tiny things turn into a whole career, man.
