I just hit 1000 hours on my track saw and I'm not sure it's worth the hype
I mean, everyone talks about track saws like they're the only way to break down sheet goods, but after using mine for a solid 1000 hours over the last two years, I'm not convinced. I still find myself going back to the table saw for a lot of crosscuts because the setup time on the track feels longer. Maybe it's just me, but for a one man shop in Tacoma, the extra tool on the bench doesn't always speed things up. I keep hearing they're a game changer, but I think it depends heavily on your workflow. Has anyone else logged serious time with one and felt the same way?

A thousand hours is a serious chunk of time to form an opinion. I get what you mean about the setup, sometimes pulling out the track for a single crosscut feels like more steps than just walking to the table saw. It's funny how a tool can be a total game changer for one shop and just another option in another. Maybe the hype comes from bigger shops or different kinds of projects?

Honestly, the hype feels like it's from people who've never had a good table saw setup. They treat it like a magic wand for every cut. It's just a fancy straight edge for folks who can't measure twice.
