I finally caved and bought a $2,500 track saw system for sheet goods after years of wrestling with my table saw.

It felt like a crazy splurge, but the time and back strain it saved me on a recent kitchen remodel with all those 4x8 plywood panels made me wonder why I waited so long, and has anyone else found a tool that felt expensive but paid for itself almost right away?

My splurge was a $1800 dust collection cyclone. It cut my shop cleanup time in half and my lungs feel a million times better. The health payback alone made it worth it, not just the time saved.

Yeah, that's the real test, when it saves your body. For me it was a proper cabinet table saw. I fought with a jobsite saw for years, and the fence was never right. Ripping down sheet goods was a two person job just to keep it straight. @gavinwood is onto something with the health angle too, my new saw's dust port hooks right into my system and it's a game changer for clean air.

Did you ever feel like you were just being dramatic about dust and lung health before you actually got the good setup? I was totally that guy, thought a basic shop vac was fine until I used a real system and realized I'd been breathing garbage for years.
