Frameless cabinet doors warped 3/16 inch after a 62% humidity swing in Austin
I built a run of maple frameless doors for a kitchen in Austin in July and installed them when the shop was at 62% humidity. Two weeks later, the client called saying the doors were rubbing and I measured a 3/16 inch bow on three of them after the AC dried the house out. Do you guys acclimate your stock to the job site first, or just build tight and hope the finish holds it?
Oh man this is like when you buy a wood cutting board in a dry state and take it to a humid one and it splits on you, wood just does what it wants. I feel like this is the same thing as people who move to Austin and their skin freaks out, the material needs time to get used to the new air. Idk maybe just letting the stock sit at the jobsite for a week before you cut would save you the callback.
